Step 3: Keep Your Body in Alkaline Balance

Heard of Stu Mittleman? He’s the world ultramarathon champion. He ran 1000 miles in 11 days.

What about Tony Robbins? Thanks to his extreme energy levels he runs multiple companies. And he’s able to be on stage for 15 hours at a time. And he travels and enjoys his life.

Pretty impressive stuff. But do you know what these two men have in common?

They ensure their body is in an alkaline balance.

And they’re testament to the fact that “The Alkaline Diet” isn’t some celebrity fad. It’s actually not a diet either. In reality, it’s the way the body is designed to function, and it’s a fundamental part of human health. Here’s why.

The whole body needs to stay in balance, with a core temperature between 36.5 – 37.5 degrees Celsius. Move out of this range by even a just few degrees and you hit serious trouble. Similarly, if the pH balance of your internal fluids fluctuates by a tiny amount, you die.

And so the body’s constantly working to maintain its temperature and pH levels. So much so that, if it senses a threat, it’ll wreak havoc with everything else in your system. It’ll leach minerals from bones or put on fat to park acids in.

Thing is, it’s the people who are eating to maintain alkalinity who are living life on another level. They tend to be vibrant, energetic, happy people.

See, when you buy into the norm you have to accept the results of doing so. We’re talking things like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, lethargy, obesity, depression… Not nice things, in other words.

Like I said, Tony Robbins is one of these extraordinary kinds of people, and here’s what he has to say:

“Balance is important in all aspects of your life, and that includes within your body. One of your body’s highest priorities is to make sure that its alkalinity remains at a level supporting cellular life.”

And he hits the nail on the head there, really. It’s all about balance.

So when concerned people contact us to say they thought they knew what they were doing with the alkaline diet before someone pointed out that you can’t alter the pH of the body, that’s what we tell them.

They’ll quote, The body has strict regulating mechanisms to keep its pH the same. There’s no point eating alkaline to try and make the body alkaline”.

But that’s exactly the point.

Because the aim of alkaline balance is not to try and raise the pH of the blood. The whole purpose is simply to prevent the body from having to do the regulating! By living and eating alkaline, we relieve the body of this need to regulate and thus the body thrives.

The constant consumption of over-acidic foods and an over-acidic lifestyle leads to devastating long-term problems including inflammation of the body.

That’s because your body will make all manner of long-term sacrifices in order to maintain your short-term health by keeping the pH of those cellular fluids at 7.365. It’ll pull calcium from your bones, magnesium from your muscle, and yeasts, bacteria and microform overgrowths will become highly present in your digestive system.

You’ll get clogged up, in other words.

But by eating the right balance of alkaline foods, you can support the body and remove the stress that goes hand in hand with an acidic lifestyle.

And to do that, you’ll probably need to make some changes.

Unless you’ve always been living by this secret, and eating predominantly alkaline foods, your body will be acidic and have a lot of stored acid waste. So the first step is to give your body everything it needs to rapidly restore an alkaline balance.

Step 1: Drink Pure Alkaline Water (and cut out acid toxins from your water.)

Did you know that there are more than 300 different chemicals in tap water? And even in bottled water you’ll find toxic bacteria, pharmaceuticals, chlorine and hormones too. They’re poisonous and highly acidic.

To get alkaline and really cleanse the internal environment of the body, you need to cut out acidic liquids like tap and bottled water, black tea, coffee, alcohol, soda and concentrated fruit juices.

You don’t have to be 100% alkaline with your meals to maintain an alkaline balance. It’s more like a ratio of 70/30 alkaline to acid that you should be aiming for. (100% alkaline is only really for short-term cleanses or detoxes of only 2-10 days.)

So fill each plate with 70% alkaline forming foods and 30% acid. You can be playful with the acid too. Use it for rice or a clean source of protein like fish. Organic green vegetables should be a decent source of alkaline minerals but longer distances from farm to fork, pollution, soil depletion and adulteration of the food chain are taking their toll. So much so that the British Food Standards Authority has said “Essential mineral levels have significantly declined in vegetables over the past 50 years.” Pretty scary, right?

And while eating a balanced alkaline diet is always the foundation of amazing health, it’ll take months if not years to restore the balance fully by simply eating spinach. (Please don’t try that at home!)
